Here We Snow Again - Sixteen North Georgia Counties May Get Snow

North Georgia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Southern Appalachian Mountains, Weather, Snow

I don't mean to be the "snow scrooge" but after two big snow events within a couple of weeks of each other, it makes me want to say, "enough already, this is the south afterall."  Uh, what was that about global warming??? The last snow stayed on the ground 11 days and even on day 12, there are still patches here and there.

Sixteen North Georgia counties under a weather alert - may see snow tonight and Friday.  See the list of counties here:  http://www.nws.noaa.gov/alerts/ga.html

Seriously, I don't mind.  The snow turns the already beautiful mountains into a virtual winter wonderland and it is really so beautiful. Bring it on, old man winter!

    Donna,

Even we had snow this year.  It was all pretty much gone by day's end however.

I can say however, the pictures look very nice. Driving in it, probably not so nice.

    Best,

    Steve

You all are having the weirdest winter this year?  I mean, snow in Georgia is weird - right!  Stay warm!

    Donna:

Actually we are truly enjoying the snow, even though it slows business down considerably. The way I think of it is: snowed in days are great for completing projects that we kep on putting on the back burner ... :-)

I'll be buying snow chains next week ... four wheel drive is one thing, but on ice it does not help much.

On a personal note: snow or not snow, GREAT JOB with the City of Blue Ridge. I am actually having difficulties finding a spot to park - people are busy .... I wish the County would wake up ...

    Stay warm,

    Geza

Steve: I say let it snow.  It doesn't last all that long as a general rule.  The last two snows we've had are not the norm.

Brenda: Not at all, we usually get several snows each winter, especially here in the mountains where the elevation is higher.  But we don't normally get so many so fast and the last two were 7 inches or more which is very rare.

Geza:  Ice is a different ball game entirely for sure.  January is our slowest season anyway, so if it's going to snow, let it snow now.  I will admit, this last one stayed on the ground even a bit too long for even me.  But this too will pass.  Stay safe.

Sadly, I missed the first round.  Maybe we will see some this weekend.

Rodney: Stay tuned, I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of it.  Welcome back.
